May14, 2024 to Gallup, NM

Started out in Holbrook, which is near the petrified forest.  Below is a marginal picture of fossilized tree
it was an 8 1/2 hour door to door slog to get 93 miles.   Never had tailwind, some cross wind, and 15 miles of headwind.
Up elevation of 1950, vs drop of 950 .   One flat, despite 85 miles on the shoulder of interstate 40.   Not much to see in AZ.  BELOW ARE A few clips.

Once we got into New Mexico it's like the scenery changed.

 Here are some pictures .

Hope tomorrow is a bit better.   Besides a long day.... Most importantly, we lose an hour of sleep tonight.   AZ and NM have different time zones this time of year.

The planned route had a crossing of a train track.  There was a train to parked there.   Trains out here can be a mile long.   I asked for directions from a couple people and ended up finding a ramp and a highway πŸ›£️ bridge up and over and to our comfort inn for the night.   A group of 7 waited over an hour for the train to move.
