Thank you again Rich for pulling me in!
The Salton Sea
79 miles today, 70 degrees at start, 101 in the 🌞 at finish. Of course we were in the sun . Climbed 1070, descended 1060. Essentially pretty flat. Headwinds on and off all day. Could never catch a downhill for a break from pedaling. Highlight was pedaling past Salton Sea for 35 plus miles. Otherwise pretty desolate. I was alone into the wind for a large part of the day. From mile 46 on we were pushed through to finish, in and out of rest stops ⏩! I again was fading and it helped a lot to have Rich to go with. We were pushed to finish as none of the group could begin the 1:45 van ride to the hotel until the last person was in . Hint. That was me! The 3 people who were behind us on the road were mandated to take the SAG vehicle to the finish, leaving us two the last riders on the road . We had to shuttle because the normal route was on I 10, and that section was currently closed to bike travel. No worries, we get 30 miles on the interstate shoulder tomorrow, along with loads of flat tires. Speaking of which I forgot, had my first flat yesterday, an ordinary office type staple. Tomorrow will be I don't know what. ....
