May 25 ended up in Great Bend, KS
A nice 88 mile day . The rest stops (2) were nicely spaced. I hit a Subway 20 miles from the hotel and everything just seemed spaced out real well. I don't eat very much for breakfast. Too rushed. Starts at 6, and I have to be dressed, lubed up withe sunscreen and chamois butter, packed , air in tires and chain lubed directly by 7 in the dot. I learned from Tom Seamonson that if you're leaving at 7. Be ready to go at 7! NO waiting!
Most interesting thing was seeing the fuselage of a plane! go by on the train next to the road! π£️
Other than that, we had cross winds for probably 30+ miles and a quartering tailwind for the rest, so really decent wind conditions today . About 430 feet elevation gain, and 1100 of drop. Again, nice!Next attraction was Pawnee Rock, a significant landmark from the old Santa Fe Trail that wagon trains took in the day. Rises up out of nowhere. These pictures are from up on top. Forgot to get picture from the bottom! Also, got a flat tire right before going up. Number 5 I think???
Got to hotel, walked next door for cheeseburger, fries and a shake, talked w Jill who was in the airport on her way to Kansas, came back to hotel, did laundry, chose clothes for tomorrow, got organized, and now close to bedtime π again . Another Best Western Plus property
