May 24 to Dodge City, KS

This pretty well tells the story

yep.
Up was 1060 feet, no big deal. Down of 1400.  First 10 miles ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I averaged 11 mph .   For the next 30 miles it was 8 1/2 miles an hour.   For real.   It was flat, just that windy .   There was one nice long straight gentle downhill.   Couldn't coast, had to pedal to keep going.  My eyes got sore from the wind.   Words are difficult to describe .   Kansas is FLAt.
Had a deer run in the ditch next to me for a stretch.

At 40 miles stopped to visit the hideout of the Dalton gang

There is a tunnel from the house to the barn

Kept going, I made it 62 miles today.   Most of the rest of the group toughed it out for 85.   I could have done it, but would have been miserable and then need to ride another 80 tomorrow..... I think I'm getting stronger, but there is no time to really rest.  All I want to do is sleep or nap.

Flat flat flat, no trees in sight.

Onward.....!
I chose to eat at IHOP.  Barbecue was catered in for us, but I'm tired of Mexican and barbecue food.   The only real meal I eat is at night.   I had an omelette, toast, and pancakes.   I always feel too rushed to eat much in the morning, and lunch never really happens
By the way we have been staying in a lot of Best Western Plus hotel rooms and people like them
