May 15, 2024 ending in Grants, NM

Hi light of the day was crossing the Continental Divide.

Below are a few pics from heading up to the divide.   The terrain in New Mexico sure seems different than Arizona.   Not sure which are mesas and which are buttes, but interesting to see .

Leaving the divide at mile 28, it was essentially an all downhill with breeze  behind into our stop for tonight.

But........ The rain caught me.
Those darn clouds got bigger and darker.

That storm cloud had thunder ⛈️ and lightning ⚡ in it .   About 10 miles from 🏨 hotel started a steady rain.   About 3 miles to go HARD 🌧️.   Two miles to go, HARD rain turning into sleet or hail from the side with strong WINDS.   Difficult to see where going.  About the time I wondered about finding shelter the hotel was in sight.   Whew!   My main concern had been a flat in that rain .   Would have been pretty darn cold changing it in that!   Anyhow, made it, and 45 minutes later the sun was out.
Only 66 miles today with around 1300 feet of up, which didn't seem real noticeable, and 1300 feet of down .

So here we are tonight, continuing to make progress.  I think today was easiest riding day yet, with or without rain .
